TOCCO is an independent furniture brand. We create furniture and interior objects with a living character. Each piece engages with space and with people in its own way: through scale, form, material and touch.
Behind TOCCO are twelve years of experience in making premium bespoke furniture. A deep knowledge of materials and construction gives us the freedom to experiment and to know whether a form we imagine can be made real.
Our starting points are engineering experiments, studies of how a form can change, and the treasures of architecture. Ideas for pieces also come from images of nature, from memories and from dreams. Sometimes a piece reveals its character only as we work on it: a silhouette we find begins to resemble a living creature, a historical figure or an artistic style. We are drawn to this moment of recognition, which leaves room for the viewer's own imagination.
For us, form is a gesture, a way of expressing a feeling. Then comes the precise work on construction: finding the radii, the joints, the balance between weight and support. An idea passes through sketches, trials and revisions, gradually gaining the conviction of a real object.
Tactility begins even before touch. The eye already senses the texture of bouclé, the cool smoothness of metal, the density and grain of burnt wood. We pay close attention to these sensations and to how a piece is used every day: how people sit on it, lean on it, rest a palm on its edge. Some pieces find several uses at once, like a chair that is also a side table. This is how what we call a living presence emerges: a feeling of an object's character when you are in direct contact with it.
We like the idea of a home that comes together gradually, along with habits, encounters and personal finds. TOCCO pieces can become part of that story: take a favourite spot, move with their owner, gather memories. We make them hoping to share a sense of liveliness and friendly help, expressed in an unusual character, a memorable form and ease of use.
